Changing the plugs on the 2001 maxima is more involved. The engine uses coil packs which are very sensitive if you're not careful with them. There is one coil per plug. The easiest to do is the front but the rears is more...frustrating. You have to remove the intake manifold to get to the rear plugs. You'll only have about 2-3 inches to work with before you hit your knuckles on the firewall. It CAN be done, it just takes time, patience, and a cool head. It doesn't matter if you pull all of the plugs at once, the ECM and ignition control doesn't care. It doesn't %26quot;mess up%26quot; firing order. Just pay attention to which coils go to which cylinder.
On older cars, ANYONE can change the plugs, on newer cars, it's more melodramatic. Unless you know what you're looking at and working with, electronic ignitions can be a frustrating experience. By the way, I recommend using the NGK spark plugs.
Best of luck. How do I install spark plugs on a 2001 nissan maxima`?you do not have to remove the intake manifold to do the rear plugs on a 01 maxima.
