The rt spark plug is not like most regular plugs to change so how do you change them? What tools do I need?

I pulled out the old plug and it has Like a casing type that I never seen. Is the plug incased in it or is that a special plug? If Its just a regular plug in it how can I change it or what tools do I need to change it. Im trying to replace it with the E3 diamond fire spark plugs but no luck without trying to damage the casing. The rt spark plug is not like most regular plugs to change so how do you change them? Be specific. We need all details.

All spark plugs in engines are the same. Something is a little odd here. Maybe you are talking about some metal sleeve around the plug, I don't know. help us out here.

How to find out which spark plugs to buy?

My friend is going to change my spark plugs this weekend and I thought it would be nice to pick some up beforehand. It's a '92 Suburban, but the engine came out of something else and I'm not sure what. Do spark plugs have markings that would tell me what I need? Or is there another way to find out?

I have changed the plugs in my Accord, and I know what you mean...it's a challenge to get to the back ones.

Not sure if you have a top tower brace (a metal tube that stretches across the right %26amp; left suspension strut towers). If you have one, you might need to remove it.

Having the right tools on hand is important. You'll need a 3/8%26quot; socket wratchet (for removing the old plugs), a 3/8%26quot; torque wrench (for installing the new ones), along with your deep-well sparkplug socket w. internal rubber gasket. It's also handy to have a 3/8%26quot; stubby wratchet since with it you'll have more 'feel' for re-guiding %26amp; threading the new sparkplugs back into their holes. You'll also need a 3/8%26quot; swivel, plus several legnths of 3/8%26quot; socket drive extensions...3%26quot;, 6%26quot;, and even perhaps a 12%26quot; legnth will be helpful (necessary).

With the aforementioned tools available, getting the plugs out shouldn't be such a tough thing...it's getting the new ones in that's more of a challenge. Use a very small amount of anti-seize lubricant on the spark plug threads...not too much.

Assemble the optimal legnth socket drive extension to your sparkplug socket, and to the swivel connect that assembly onto your drive wrench. Again, a stubby wrench comes in handy for helping you to finesse the correct alignment of the plug into the threads. It's critical to not 'cross-thread' the cylinder head during this process...shouldn't have to apply lots of force to get the plugs going into their threads. Once you have a few turns established, you can switch over to your torque wrench, to complete the process.

One little 'trick'. I've found that sometimes the rubber gasket internal to the sparkplug socket fits rather tightly with the plug. It's maddening to install a sparkplug, then tug on the wrench only to find that your socket is left stuck in the sparkplug well. What's helpful is to remove the rubber gasket before you begin this whole process, and trim some of the rubber away to make for a modest, but not too tight of a fit with the sparkplug insulator. That way, the socket will easily release from the sparkplug once you've finished tightening it.

    Hope this helps.

The other solution is of course to take the car to a shop %26amp; pay them the $$ for the work.

Regards. How do I change the 3 back spark plugs in a 2000 Acura 3.2TL?I don't have the car, but I do have many years of experience working with cars that has same engine layout. In most cars, you can lift up the front end and you can work from the under the car. Extend your arm upward to the engine block. Most of minivans or Japanese imports can be done this way.

However, if you cannot reach from bottom of the engine block, then you will have to remove intake components to get from the top. Japanese cars use rubber gaskets so you can safely remove everything and reinstall without worrying about needing a new gasket.

How do I change spark plugs on a 02 Jetta 2.0? Is it relatively hard?

I own a 2002 jetta gls and at 40k, the spark plugs need to be changed. I would like to know what the steps are to change them and if it is a hard job to conquer. How do I change spark plugs on a 02 Jetta 2.0? Is it relatively hard?Buy the replacement plugs first.

I am guessing you know how to get to the plugs, so i advise u to make sure the engine is cold, say first thing in the morning. Never pull plugs when motor is hot or at operating temperature as this can sometimes have a negative effect on an otherwise easy job.

Ok so motor is cold u have access to spark plugs and the needed tools; Remove the spark plug lead dont just pull on the lead try to gently use the insulating boot around plug the black rubber bit closest to the spark plug, before undoing the plugs try to tighten the spark plug a very little amount as this seats the thread on the plug, once plug has been tightened fractionally undo plug and insert new plug into same location.

When inserting new plug try to get the thread to bite by screwing it in with your fingers if possible, that is until you have to use the ratchet. At this point i will advise that if the plug isn't going in as easy as it came out then STOP and make sure you are not cross threading the plug. Just undo it and start again.OK so finger tight, good; Next using the ratchet tighten the plug firmly, i cant help u here as this is usual done by feel. If u remember how hard it was to take out the plug then this is a good indication of tightness needed.

    Make sense?

That's about it, continue on with process until all plugs are changed.

Change one plug at a time and take note of where it came from, then lay all plugs in sequence as per removal. Take note of any irregularities of the plugs. On removal of first plug compare electrode gap and correct new plug gap if needed, usually not as spark plugs gapping is not really an issue on modern cars (anything with a computer in it.)How do I change spark plugs on a 02 Jetta 2.0? Should be found online. How do I change spark plugs on a 02 Jetta 2.0? Is it relatively hard?Fairly easy repair. Just remove the engine cover and you should be able to see the plugs on the front of the engine. It helps if you have a swivel spark plug socket, b/c you have to work around the intake manifold.

If a spark plug blew out of the head, your car would sound like a jack hammer, but would not do any serious damage. Just embarrass you.How long will it take to notice IF there was a problem changing my spark plugs?should not be a problem either way but over time if you undertightened them , they could blow out of the head. overtightened and they might be hard to remove next time or damage the threads on the plugs and/or the cylinder head ( especially is you have an aluminum head) but again either way you shouldnt have any kind of major failure because of itHow long will it take to notice IF there was a problem changing my spark plugs? You'll get misfires...if you miffed the gaps then definitely. Usually you can tell right away because the idle will be really rough.

What do you mean undertightened? If you hand tightened them even without the additional .5-.75 of a complete circle they shouldn't misfire or dislodge.

But really...if you're not comfortable working on a car you should probably pay a professional or buy a car that you don't mind destroying (a BEATER) to work on until you learn the ropes.

How do you replace the spark plugs and the wires?

I am a 1993 Dodge caravan 3.3L V6. I was looking for a Do-It-Yourself website on how i would replace my old spark plugsHow do you replace the spark plugs and the wires?Using the right tools, almost anyone can deal with this maintenance item. Spark plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles, usually when your car is getting a major tune-up.

    Removing the Old Spark Plugs

    Instructions

STEP 1: Pull the hood release lever located under the dashboard. STEP 2: Walk around to the front of the car, reach under the hood, find the latch and squeeze it. Open the hood. STEP 3: Find the spark plugs, located in a row along one side of the engine (on an in-line four-cylinder engine) and attached to thick wires, called spark plug wires. Cars with V-shaped engines (which can have four, six or eight cylinders) will have spark plugs and spark plug wires on both sides of the engine. STEP 4: Change one spark plug at a time, always putting the plug wire back on before changing the next spark plug (see warning below). STEP 5: Pull off one spark plug wire where it attaches to the plug. There is a little rubber boot at the plug end of the wire; pull on this part. Pulling higher up on the wire can damage the spark plug wire and cause it to separate. STEP 6: Blow or wipe away any dirt or debris around the spark plug. You do not want anything to fall into the cylinder while the spark plug is out. STEP 7: With the spark plug socket and a ratchet, remove the spark plug by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. You may need an extension for your ratchet if the spark plugs are deep-set or not directly accessible. Ratchets with flexible heads are especially helpful for hard-to-reach spark plugs. STEP 8: Check the spark plug to make sure it needs replacing. A good spark plug should be lightly coated with greyish brown deposits. If heavy deposits are present, if the spark plug is black or if the electrode or core nose are damaged, the plug needs to be replaced. Tips %26amp; Warnings

Your socket set should have a %26quot;spark plug socket%26quot; (usually with a little padding/grip inside it) just for spark plugs.

Make sure the car is off and let the engine cool before changing the spark plugs.

Change one spark plug at a time, putting the wire back on after you're done. If you pull all the wires off at once, you may put them back on the wrong spark plugs; this changes the firing order, and your car will run badly or not at all. If you must take all the wires off at once, label them with white correction fluid or with masking tape and a marker.

    Gapping the New Spark Plugs

    Instructions

STEP 1: Find the chart listing the proper %26quot;gap%26quot; for your plugs in your car's repair manual. The spark plug gap may also be on the sticker on the inside of the car's hood. The parts store can provide you with this specification as well. STEP 2: Insert the spark plug gapping tool in the gap between the metal center electrode and the metal side electrode of the plug's tip. STEP 3: Look at the tool's ruled edge and find the gap's measurement. If it is too big, bend the spark plug's end with the tool to widen the gap. To make the gap smaller, push the side electrode (the metal part at the very top) against a hard service. STEP 4: After adjusting, measure again. Repeat this procedure until the gap matches the specification listed in your car's manual. STEP 5: Repeat with each plug. Tips %26amp; Warnings

Spark plug gap specifications are listed in inches and/or millimeters. The gapper will have inches on one side and millimeters on the other.

Make sure you buy the right spark plugs for your car based on its model, make and year.

    Installing the New Spark Plugs

    Instructions

STEP 1: Hand-tighten each spark plug in place. If you feel any resistance, stop and start over to prevent cross-threading. STEP 2: Tighten the plugs with a socket wrench until snug. Do not overtighten. STEP 3: Replace the spark plug wires. Usually, you will hear a soft pop when the plug wire snaps onto the plug. STEP 4: Start the engine. Listen. If the engine runs roughly or doesn't start, make sure the wires are pushed all the way onto the new plugs. Tips %26amp; Warnings

Improperly gapped plugs will make your car run roughly, start poorly and have bad gas mileage. How do you replace the spark plugs and the wires? With a spark plug socket and ratchet. • How to change spark plugs inside cars?

    Hello again =]

I had an Xterra 01 and I'm sure i have to change spark plugs. But since i never done it and I don't want to ruin or break them inside I wonder if some1 can tell me exactly and what tools to use to change them?

It's all the same for every cars?.. Same tools same methods? How to change spark plugs inside cars? It's the same for every car.

    1) Remove the cover, if there is one (usually says DOHC or some nonsense like that).

    2) Remove the wires, making note of their order (crucial). If you have a four cylinder, there will be four.

    3) Using a spark plug socket that fits your car (this differs car-to-car), unscrew the spark plugs

    4) Gap the new spark plugs, if needed

    5) Gently install the new spark plugs by finger tightening, then using your ratchet to just snug it in place - do not overtighten!

    6) Replace wires and cover, making sure the wires go back on in the correct order

Just be gentle, don't force anything, and you'll be fine. It might be the easiest thing to do next to replacing the air filter. How to change spark plugs inside cars? It's pretty straight forward. Find spark plugs, remove spark plug wires, unscrew/remove spark plugs, screw/install new plugs, replace wires.

Here is a simple guide with pictures:

    http://autorepair.about.com/od/regularma

It becomes difficult if the plugs are in a tight spot with little clearance, I'm not sure how it is on your car.

To be sure to get the right spark plug socket, buy the plugs from an auto parts store, then remove one from the box and find the socket that fits it.

Tip: Either label the spark plug wires, or do one at a time. You don't want to mix up which wires go on which plugs.

How often should you change your spark plugs?

I have a '98 Mazda Protege LX 1.5L 4 cylinder with just over 111,000 miles. I was wondering how often you need to change the spark plugs. Also, I heard people say they changed the wires, rotor and cap. Do you need to do that too?How often should you change your spark plugs? The normal rule of thumb is to change the plugs and wires every 100,000 miles. As far as the rotor...if your car has that because most vehicles nowadays are all electronic...I wouldn't replace that until you start having issues with it.How often should you change your spark plugs?Forget about replacing wires, The factory wires should last for the lifetime of the car, unless they have been eaten by squirrels. Power wash your engine for starters. Remove your dist cap and check it INSIDE for the presence of engine oil. Many times, oil under pressure will find it's way here. Wash it out with CRC electronic cleaner. It will remove the oil and evaporate quickly. Replace the cap and rotor at 100,000 miles, using ONLY genuine Mazda (nippondenso) parts. There is a resistor in many dist rotors that go bad with age. Locate, remove and clean your IAC valve (idle air control valve). Use Gum-out spray. Clean the throttle body and plate and PCV valve, too. Run the Gum-out through the engine with car running, warm. Any carbon inside the intake manifold will dislodge and get dispelled. When everything is factory clean, replace the plugs. Use the new Nippondenso Twin Tip plugs ($3 each). Or nippondenso Iridium plugs ($9 each). Engine and sensors should ALL be clean. Plugs are last step. These plugs will give you best power and fuel mileage. Wait and see!!!! If you MUST change the wires, use ONLY factory wires. Never short change the original parts. They were made to last longest and work the best. The plugs I have mentioned will react with modern fuel and burn more cleanly and produce more power. Emissions go down, too. For even better performance, motor flush the engine and use ELF oil (France) made for Mazda (JASO ratings). Change it once yearly. Your engine will LOVE you for it!!!! So will your lifters, rings, and other engine vitals. Good luck!!How often should you change your spark plugs?Read your owners manual. Your car probably needs plugs at 60,000 miles or so, if your car runs on an ignition cap and wires, then yes, replace plugs, INSPECT wires for damage, check your points in the cap for wear (if dull, replace, if they have a sharp edge still, probably ok). If the light doesn't flash when the trigger is pulled the plug or wire can be at fault.

I want to change my spark plugs, (Ford wants to charge me $200) but the plugs near the firewall seem tough to get at.

Do mechanics use mirrors or what? How do I change 2001 ford windstar spark plugs?Actually the one guy is kinda right you can remove the cowl panel at the windshield however it is a little bit more involved you must remove the wiper arms (15mm nut), unplug the washer hose, remove the 4 plastic push pins at the cowl then pull upward to remove off it's clips before completely pulling it off feed the wiper hose you unplugged through the grommet then there are about 9 8mm bolts holding down the lower cowl remove the pollen filter to get to one of the bolts and make sure you unplug the wiper motor and if it has one the hood light plug then you can get to the plugs getting to them from under the van is pretty tricky tooHow do I change 2001 ford windstar spark plugs?yes mirrors are handy at times you might have to close your eyes and feel for it.but.if you jack it up you may gain access where the wheel well is.the plastic covers (wells) are removable.try autozone.comHow do I change 2001 ford windstar spark plugs?Change the rear plugs from under the vanHow do I change 2001 ford windstar spark plugs?IT is pretty easy. that black piece that shrouds the back of the engine is easily removed, the one that acts as a shield for the lower windshield and wipers. there area about 6 tabs you pull and then the rear plugs are easy to get to. well worth the little effort as it is almost impossible to get at them from underneath as the steering is in the way.

Got a manual it tells you how to do it, I am looking at a haynes right now. :-)

How do I change 2001 ford windstar spark plugs?Arg its pretty difficult. At a ford dealer 200 seems like a bargain. The plugs in the back are pretty hard to get, so i havent even attempted to change them myself on mine.

I just need to know how to get the spark plugs out...How do you change the spark plugs in a 82 Pontiac Bonneville?Sounds like you pulled the spark plug wire out of the plug boot, trashing the wire rather than removing plug wire boot from plug.

You will have a wire. It has a boot on each end, one side snaps onto the dist. of engine, then wire runs down to spark plug.

Where theres another boot that snaps onto the end of the plug.

Remove the boot from plug and you will see a white colored round object sticking out. Te the starting of that you will have a 5/8%26quot; wrench hex.

Total apprx. $150.How much does it cost to have my spark plugs and wires replaced? You know...a tune up is probably exactly what you need. I would say that you are going to spend $50 to $75 for a tune-up. The problem with buying your own plugs and wires is that you need to know someone who knows what they are doing to set the correct caliber. That's why it is probably better to just have a professional do it.How much does it cost to have my spark plugs and wires replaced?I don't know about domestics but maybe it is the same with imports. If you can see it on top or on the side then it's really easy to change thoes spark plug and wires.Better then to take it to the shop and have someone do it labor isn't cheap( $60-80 per hour). All you have to do is memorize where each wire goes as you change one you put in the new one so it wouldn't be so confusing. Have the spark plug socket with the extension and wrench and turn it counter clockwise. take them out and replaced them with the new ones and plug in the wires and your set. It only takes like 15 minutes and shops will probably charge 1 to 2 hours becasue they go by the book.

How important is a tune up or changing spark plugs?

    I know changing oil is very important , but my $$ is very tight and my car hit 69,000 miles and I have 2005 PT Cruiser where I have changed the 2 spark plugs that are easy to reach but not the 2 underneath. Can I do damage by not replacing them or just suffer poor gas mileage and performance? ThanksHow important is a tune up or changing spark plugs?Many vehicles can go over 100,000 miles before the plugs need to be replaced. It won't damage the vehicle to have worn plugs. How did the ones you remove look? If the plug starts to misfire, you will get a check engine light. Spend your money on the things that are really important and can cause damage if neglected. Oil you've been doing, that is important and the other two important items would be your transmission fluid if it's and auto and the timing belts if you have one. Neither of these may be due yet. Check your owner's manual for service intervals.How important is a tune up or changing spark plugs?its not going to hurt your car if you wait to change them granted you may down the road have a break down related to them not being changed but it will be fineHow important is a tune up or changing spark plugs?to start out, the platinum plugs that should have been in there form the beginning, do not have to be changed till about 100,000 miles. replacing only two will not have any ill effects on the engines life span, its not so great on the fuel economy, bu that is about it,How important is a tune up or changing spark plugs?Bad spark plugs can results in a lot of problem;

  • How do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car?

I just bought a 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport (its a mouth full!) about five months ago, and I was wondering since I have no idea what the previous owner had done for maintenance, how do I know I should change the spark plugs? How do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car? What he said.......you should change your plugs every 70,000 miles or so. And I believe on a Subaru it's a boxer type engine so they're probably pretty easy to change out....i would recommend Bosch Platinum +4's because you don't have to gap them....just screw them in and go. Hope this helps. How do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car? When in doubt, change it out.How do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car?Usually you can get about 100,000 miles on them before they need changing. It's 9 years old and probably close to 100K. Spend the $20 for new plugs. Also, if it doesn't already have synthetic oil in it I would switch to full synthetic and a new filter. As so as the oil starts to turn dark it's time to change the filter. Don't change the oil as synthetic will outlast the life of the vehicle.

The car should last you a long long whileHow do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car?anytime you buy or trade for one like that its best to just go ahead and change everything and make a record of it ,then you know when it was done, the previous owners may not have changed those in a while so i would go ahead and give the car a tune up,and then you,ll have accurate records of when it was done,i always do,and never have any problems from most of my trades, they should be changed about every 30 thousand miles, but unless you got a real good maintenance record with the car id go ahead and tune it up real good ,change all your filters and check all the belts, anything that could cause future problems that looks bad id go ahead and change it now,it may save time and money later on ,good luck with it.How do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car?if da car trembles but change them anyways your gas milage will go upHow do I know when to change the spark plugs on in my car?they arnt hard or pricey go ahead and do it.

How do I replace spark plugs on a 1996 Dodge Stratus?

I can locate the spark plugs but have no idea how to get to them. How do I replace spark plugs on a 1996 Dodge Stratus?ok you need to remove the upper intake (i know, it's retarded). To do this, remove the bolts from the top (6 of them I believe, 13mm), throttle body (easier than removing all of the connections), 2 bolts holding the EGR tube on, and viola... you're there. It's a good idea to have either a spark plug socket with a rubber o-ring to hold the plug, or a pair of long needle nose pliers as the plugs sit way down in the valve cover. Good luck!!

Edit: This is only for the 2.5 liter V6, I'm not sure on the four-cyl.How do I replace spark plugs on a 1996 Dodge Stratus?you need a real long spark plug socket to get to them,go to any parts store and purchase the long reach spark plug socket it was designed to use on the newer vehicles, with it you can get them in and out with no problems, without it though it make the job real hard to do,they will keep falling off of a regular socket, make sure you get them right and don't drop them in the hole, good luck.

How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2000 mustang V6?

I am looking to replace the spark plugs and wires on my mustang. In inspecting the engine, I see the plugs on the driver's side of the vehicle. The plugs on the passenger side seem to be hidden under the air intake manifold and below some other parts. I know how to replace the plugs if I can access them, can anybody provide step by step instructions on what to remove to access the passenger side plugs? How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2000 mustang V6?dude if you find someone that can show you how let me KNOW!!How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2000 mustang V6?If you still aren't scared of doing that by now just take it step-by-step and remove what you need to remove till you can see all 3 plugs. There is way to much involved for such a small engine, I would try raising the car up and remove the front right wheel and getting at the plugs through the wheel well. Most tune ups do have some degree of difficulty with one side of the engine having all the plumbing in the way.How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2000 mustang V6?You may have to take off the air hose going from the intake to the air box on the fender. That should give you some room to work. Also I had an 89 GT and some of my plugs were easier to gain access from under the car with it either on jack stands or on ramps. Sometimes you cant really get the socket and ratchet on the plug and still have room. I had a Maverick with a factory V-8 like this. I used a spark plug socket that had a 13/16 I think it was nut (sort of) on the end where the ratchet goes. You can fit the socket on the plug and then use a box end wrench to break it loose and turn it out with either the socket and your fingers or use a piece of vacuum hose over the end of the plug to get it out. The vacuum hose (or a plug starter same thing) is a neat trick for putting them back in without worrying to much about cross threading them. Use a little never siez on the threads to help out the next time. How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2000 mustang V6?you need a 5/8 socket and a ratchet with extensioner. and a couple extra spark plugs, new timers will break them by either over tightening them or a loose ratchet grip.

take one spark plug boot off at a time, either mark them or simply replace the spark plug then reboot it, and move on to the next. if you rush and yank them all off at once, you will cross wire it and take a while to redo it and get a nice dose of electric shocks.

you will need to gap them to, i used bosch double plat series, 0.52 gap.

  • How do I replace spark plugs on a transverse v6?

I bought mine new and now my car, 03 Sable, has 110000 on it. I want to replace the spark plugs now. I can get to the front with no problem, of course. How do I get to the back side?

Also any good books to get that would explain how to do general maintance on newer cars? Seems like flushing the radiator on new cars is so much different than cars from the 60's.How do I replace spark plugs on a transverse v6?For a manual, ya can't beat ' Haynes '. The rear plugs aren't to bad to change on a Sable 3.0 'ohv ' engine, but I haven't done'em on their overhead cam 3.0. Also, on the cooling system flush, Don't use those chemical flush treatments.Just pop off the bottom hose, like ya did on the old cars,%26amp; rinse'er out afew times. Good Luck =^ )How do I replace spark plugs on a transverse v6?unfortunately fords are a ***** to dig into. sometimes you can go underneath and get em. a trick i use if i have to is to un bolt the torquer motormount have someone get in the car and put it in gear and slowly gently accellerate untill theengine rolls a bit opening the gap between the engine and firewall.carefully place a wooden block in a place that it will be secure.without a small protrusion pushing into the wood(splitting it and causing collapse of the gap)once in place add spacers where applicable for added safety). dont try this if you feel uncomfortable with doing so.when i use this method i usually use a foot long 4x4 in good shape with no knots.when working on any ford have patience and remain levelheaded you will probably notice that it's been engineered by a blind idiot.

How do I change the spark plugs on a 2005 chevy malibu?

About how long does it take? How do I change the spark plugs on a 2005 chevy malibu?Last time I checked spark plugs are easily seen for that car. They are located on the engine. As far as how long, I am assuming it's a six cylinder, figure a half hour for a master certified technician, three hours for a shade tree. How do I change the spark plugs on a 2005 chevy malibu? We need to know the engine size. But usually they're at the middle of the engine for an in-line 4 and on the outskirts on a V-6. You might have to remove coil packs.

Remedy for spark plugs blowing out of Ford Triton engines?

I have a 2000 ford F150 with the 5.4 Triton engine. It is approaching 100,000 miles and I am replacing the plugs and coils. Is there a solution or advice on how to prevent the spark plugs from blasting out at a later date? I have owned the truck 1 month and have recently read about this problem.Remedy for spark plugs blowing out of Ford Triton engines?Well, I suppose anythings possible if someone screws up bad enough. I'd be interested in knowing where you read this, and whether or not they found the reason. My guess would be they weren't properly torqued because they're hard to get at. A wobble-drive extension or 2 helps a lot. I've heard some people say you have to take the fuel rail off to get at them. But they just don't know any better.

I also heard that the problem was that the original motorcraft plugs were not threaded as far as they should have been.

I have put Autolite plugs in many of these engines and haven't ever had a problem. If they are properly tightened then you shouldn't have a problem either.

I usually replace the bad coil, plugs, and the boots on the rest of the coils. That seems to keep away any other problems.

How many spark plugs do I need to replace in my 2002 Benz E320?Your car has a V6 engine with two spark plugs per Cylinder. And yes you do need to replace all twelve of them. The plugs i use are N.G.Ks and have never had any problems with them in the 15 years we have used them. Leave your Spark plug wires or H.T leads well alone. One word of warning i have swapped dozens of these plugs in the V6s and none of the H.T leads have come off easily. It is very easy to pull the lead from the plug cap so be very very careful. How many spark plugs do I need to replace in my 2002 Benz E320?12 of them. How many spark plugs do I need to replace in my 2002 Benz E320?The Bosch Platinums are inferior to the NGK Iridiums(I run them BOTH in my MBZ and 911).

The best prices I found for the NGK Iridiums are Autozone for $5.99 each, instead of Kraegen which wanted $11.99 each, so it pays to shop around. They last a LONG time, so when installed, it should be 75-100K before you need new plugs again.

CARQUEST is also an excellent source for FACTORY parts, such as Zimmerman rotors, etc.

Unless your car has 150K plus miles on it, don't touch the factory wires, and NEVER buy aftermarkets wires for a MBZ.

How can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue?

I'm trying to remove the plug wires and spark plugs on this car but it has a boot that covers the spark plug and the end of the plug wire. I've tried pulling and wiggling it but it won't come off although it does loosen some. Do I need to remove the plug wires first to remove the boot? I've tried to pull them off first but the plug wires aren't coming off either. How can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue? Here's what ya do.. the rubber boot is part of the spark plug wire. If you are replacing it with new wires just pull and tug till it comes off. It just %26quot;snaps%26quot; in place but over the years the rubber has kinda glued itself to the plug. You will probably pull the wire out of the boot, once this happens that wire is no longer any good. That rubber piece stuck to the plug is actually a part of the wire. Sometimes it helps to get a pair of pliers of some kind and clamp the tip of the boot on rotate it in a circular motion, this will break the %26quot;seal%26quot; or bond that is making it stick to the plug. Once it (the rubber boot) twist freely on the plug it should pull straight off fairly easy. There is a metal clip inside the boot that is clipped on the tip of the plug, you will need to pull it off of the plug with the pliers once the boot is removed so you can get a socket on the spark plug. The spark plug will require either a 5/8 or 3/4 inch deep well socket to remove it. it unscrews counter clock wise. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN when installing, just real snug, if you have aluminum heads it could damage the threads and then you have a serious problem. Always start the new plug with you fingers and screw it all the way down, as far as possible before tightening with the ratchet. It should go in very easy if there is any kind of resistance while trying to screw the plug down with your fingers, it may be not going in straight. Don't force it if its not going in straight. You will easily be able to tell if its screwing in correctly or not.How can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue?I hear that calling a man helps a lot.How can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue?if uve already go the new plugs and wires.. just yank em off 1 at a time and replace with new parts as u go......the boots will probably separate frum the wires since they have never been changed (probably)...

I found the above links that address your question. I did not see anything about a cover though. Sorry I don't have a better answer. Good luck. How can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue? If you try to remove the wire from the boot you will wreck it. Plug caps have a very snug fit and if silicone wasn't put in them they stick to the plug from years of heat. The wire terminal has a snug fit on the plug also. You can try rotating the caps slightly to break the bond but your best bet would be to get a proper tool or someone more knowledgeable.
