Do high end spark plugs really do all that much? And if so how do I determine the right plug for my car?

Currently, I have an 2006 Acura TSX. All I have in it is a cold air intake and just wanted to increase my gas millage and off the start push. I've done some of my own research and found some arguments over the fact that spark plugs do improve performance, and other claims that it doesn't do anything. If anyone has any knowledge on the subject it would very much appreciated for your help.Do high end spark plugs really do all that much? There is some benefit as far as lifespan of the plugs to go with the platinum version of the standard plug. If your engine is running clean they should last 100,000 miles. The car manufacturers pay techs allot of money to design these engines from the factory. I suspect they know more about what kind of spark plugs goes in your vehicle than some kid behind a parts counter. :)
