Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?

i was jsut at autozone and saw these cool looking spark paugs. they were the Bosch plugs with the four iridium and platinum tips or something like that. they were $7.99 each and the box said increase horsepower, so like an idiot i bought them.

i want to know if they are really worth it though. how will they affect engine performance?Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance? They wont make any significant or noticeable difference over that of what is recommended by the manufacturer.Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?Your engine performance will increase, but not enough for you to notice. The benefit with most expensive plugs is that they last longer. But to increase power is a stretch. The term %26quot;specious%26quot; is in order here. It means there is some truth to a statement, but a minor truth of little or no consequence.

You can feel good about your purchase just the same. They could be the last plugs you'll ever need for that car.Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?Nope, they don't make any extra power, in fact some will loose power over a std plug.

I have dyno'ed and track tested every spark plug known to man and I can tell you that the only think those fancy plugs do is lighten your wallet.

I have a 500 HP camaro that I drag race in NHRA D.O.T tire class.. Wanna guess what plugs I use?

$1.29 to $1.79 std. AC delco, auto lite or NGK v power plugs

I'm looking for frictions of a horsepower gain and well really if those fancy plugs worked, don't you think I would use them.. Hell with the price if they made more power I would be running them. I have $14K in my car, spend $175 bucks per trip to drag strip just on fuel, $400 set of rear tires that might last 1 year. Whats 64 bucks to gain more power?

They don't work, thats why I don't use them.

I also build race engines. My customers are looking for all the power they can get.. If those fancy plugs made more, I would install them in the engines I build.

Also bosch (reg and plats) are the worst plugs I have ever tried. Fouled out before I made it out of my driveway for a test driveDo expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?they claim that but they can't prove it by me as I have never seen any difference from regular plugs in performance from those special expensive plugs, the only difference I have ever noticed was in regular plugs in my big block chevy where AC plugs is the standard plug and autolite definately makes the car run better than the AC's.Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?the only one that will gain with u buying these plugs are bosh, and autozone.....car makers of today spend millions of dollars on research and development, and the spark plugs are tested for performance in the engine that they are in....cars that came with a regular plugs will not benefit from platinum or any other gimmick plug...stick with what your car came with for best performance...take the money u would have wasted on the plugs and put some gas in your car, take a ride and enjoyDo expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?I used to think that way. What I do NOW is change plugs AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR whether I need to or not. I buy the plug that costs $1.79, preferably champion and go for it. I have a fresh plug at least once a year. Car companies are calling for 100000 mile maintenance. Have you ever looked a 100K plug. The whole end is burned off.Do expensive spark plugs make a difference in engine performance?nope
