How do you replace the spark plugs on a 1995 Acura TL?

I want to save money if i possibly can. If not, fine. I'll have to choke it up.How do you replace the spark plugs on a 1995 Acura TL?Either way you're going to have to go to a place of buisness to buy your sparkplugs. They're pretty cheap anyways. Probably around $8-$10. When you call Kragen or who ever to get a price check for your car ask him if the sparks need to be adjusted before replacing them, if he says yes then you will need to buy that little tool that looks like a big quarter. Have the guy show you how to use it, then go home and follow his instructions. How do you replace the spark plugs on a 1995 Acura TL?this probably would not be a good car to learn on. If you could perhaps either enlist the aid of a professional mechanic or perhaps a seriously accomplished car crafter. You might ask if you could ask if you could watch it done at a Honda/Acura dealership.

regards,EdHow do you replace the spark plugs on a 1995 Acura TL?It's so easy I don't believe you are asking this but here it goes first of all you have to locate the sparkplug wires then remove them one at the time use a 5/8 sparkplug socket to remove them then install the new one after gaping it then remove the other sparkplug wire PS remember everytime you finish to install the new one install the wire before removing the other wire so you don't lose the timing order. Spark plugs removing of chevy cobalt?

I have looked in the owners Manuel and i do not see how to remove the spark plugs in a 2005 Chevy cobalt. does anyone have any pictures on how to remove the spark plug cover that is on top.Spark plugs removing of chevy cobalt? If you can't even remove the cover, you might want to have someone else change your plugs for you.

Most GM cars have plastic covers that just pull off and clip back on. Don't yank it hard enough to break it though. If it isn't the clip on type, there should be an obvious bolt head showing. If that doesn't work tug on it around the edges and wherever you feel resistance is where there will be a bolt or wing nut you need to remove.Spark plugs removing of chevy cobalt?Look for the oil fill cap, if it has an extended neck that goes through the plastic cover on the part of engine towards the radiator. You need to grasp the long part below the cap and give it a counterclockwise twist, then remove neck with cap on it. Lift up on plastic cover, there is an extension tab on back of engine then slide towards yourself. Good LuckSpark plugs removing of chevy cobalt?Remove oil fill cap on drivers side of enginge, remove plastic shield bly lifting straight up on it. , look at top of engine, you should see you ign module on the top which should also say eco-tec 2.2 or 2.0 of 2.4 which ever motor you have. remove CPA clip and disconnect IGN module just the wires not the module from the coils. remove the 4 bolts that you can see on the at cover. pull straight up, be very careful not to pull off at angle or you may damage the coil/sparkplug boots. Use a 6%26quot; extension with sparkplug socket to remove plugs.

I have a craftsman riding lawnmower model# 917.270810. While replacing the spark plugs i stripped the threads.

I stripped the threads on the right side clyinder (engine is a briggs and stratton 19.5Hp V-twin) The spark plug will go most of the way in and tighten before it starts to go loose again. I pulled the head and the threads look good for the most part. How can i chase remaining good threads and what tools will i need? I dont want to get a new head or use an insert.I have a craftsman riding lawnmower model# 917.270810. While replacing the spark plugs i stripped the threads. You may as well get used to the idea that you'll need to use an insert (helicoil). They're easy to install and they work pretty well. Since you have the head off, it'll be easy to judge the depth....you don't want the helicoil extending beyond the surface of the head or you'll be in danger of causing severe damage. ( piston ramming protruding insert:)

Save yourself from further problems,...install the insert and be done with it.

Good luck.I have a craftsman riding lawnmower model# 917.270810. While replacing the spark plugs i stripped the threads.Go to the automotive store and buy a tube of instant thread maker. You put it on the plug and install it in the engine and wait till it drys. I think the name of it is make-a-thread or something like that. Other than that you may need to get a helicoil from the automotive store.I have a craftsman riding lawnmower model# 917.270810. How much electrical energy (kwh) is used by an average car to drive the spark plugs, lights, radio, etc?

To save gas, I want to disconnect my car's alternator and then connect the car's battery to a battery charger in the evening. I know I won't be able to go long distances, but I should be able to go at least 30 km (21 miles)? I know because the alternator belt broke one time and I was able to drive for quite awhile without it.How much electrical energy (kwh) is used by an average car to drive the spark plugs, lights, radio, etc?If you are judicious with your loads, you should be able to get by with less than a 30 Amp draw on your battery. If your drive takes 45 minutes, then you will have used:

    12V x 30A x (45/60) = 270W-hrs. (0.27kW-hrs).

This may save you a bit, by being able to charge your battery at home, BUT BEWARE.

Your car battery is not designed for the multiple deep cycling that this service will force upon it.

In your economic analysis, plan to replace your battery about 2 years sooner than normal. How much electrical energy (kwh) is used by an average car to drive the spark plugs, lights, radio, etc?If you have your lights, heater, and wipers running, plan on a roundtrip of 3 miles or less. How much electrical energy (kwh) is used by an average car to drive the spark plugs, lights, radio, etc?* Your acid/sealed-acid battery is not designed to be drained daily. That's a trick Li-Ion / Ni-Cd batteries used in mobile phones and laptops are capable of. But then they're incapable of operating in your engine compartment and will also be very expensive if they're offered in a 70Ah-or-something fashion with a cold-start ability of 300A-or-something.

    * An alternator becomes stiffer when electrical load on it becomes bigger. In normal conditions it can be rotated as easy as a kitchen fan.

    * I ain't a mathematician, nor a physicist (I am a systems analyst, for the record), but considering Craigory's upscale (30A is not drawn even by Enzo's engine electrics @ 8000 RPM) calculations, 0.27 kWh is nearly nothing comparing to what a typical 100 HP (= 75 kW) engine wastes in other ways in an hour.

    * Honestly, the amount of fuel you're gonna save removing the alternator is far less than if you do not carry the spare tire with you, but to get real, it's better if you:

    1. Install a fuel magnetizer, a real original one with neodymium magnets, brands like %26quot;Super Fuel Saver%26quot;, etc., great results (up to 27%) for something that stupid-looking and cheap, just like what http://www.fuelsaverpro.co.uk/ or http://www.wholly-water.com/magnetizer/s offer.

    2. Keep your injectors / carb clean. Even replace them completely on multi-yearly intervals. No spray- / additive-cleaned one works like a new one, even if you're using top brands like STP.

    3. Keep your ECU / carb tuned. Diag your ECU every now and then. Do not over-rev your car even for a few secs, most ECUs become untuned when raced.

    4. Oxygen sensors and catalytic converters are green, for nature's sake, indeed, not for your pocket's. You can't blow in a catalyst removed from a car with 20000 km on the dash without giving yourself a hernia, how could your engine do? Replacing my catalyst on my Pug after 20k gave me 1.5 secs faster 0-60 and 4.2 secs faster 1-100 on the same (upward) slope the same day.

    5. Take good care of your spark plugs, keep them in shape, adjust the gap from time to time, and replace them when they're no longer teen, just like a gal.

    6. Even if your car has adjustable hydraulic values and/or variable valve timing, it's good for the shims to be adjusted when you sense it's needed. Nothing, even the perfect machine, the human being, is automatically adjustable as claimed. This is felt more required when the car is driven through different weathers.

    7. Air filter is the lung of the engine, keep them new, and replace them faster if your place is air-polluted. You're engine will run like a smoking guy running if the air filter is polluted.

    8. Do not hit on gas for acceleration, instead tap on it and push more along with the rev going up. Use proper (lighter) gear if you luckily do not use one of them lazy-matics: Why automatics need to cool off their oil? A proof to waste of energy: Only high-performance cars with manuals have gearbox heat deflectors, but nearly all automatics do. Did you know an automatic TH-400 tranny of the 70s (best of the 70s, even used in Humvees then) was wasting BIG percentages of engine's torque/power, so a typical 1978 400 ci (6600 cc) automatic Trans Am could do only 123 MPH in its heydays, and that was only for a few minutes, before it breaks down!?

    9. Keep your car light, a lot of people are too fat themselves, and/or have a junk yard stuck in their trunk and/or back seat. A rule of thumb says for a normal car, every 100 kg (220 lbs) adds 1 liter/100 km to your fuel consumption (MPG-conversion is not possible, since MPG is not linear in this case.) See, F430 Scuderia do not even have floor carpets, this is a hundred pounds less, believe me or not.

    10. Keep your tires' pressure accurate. Less pressure results in better handling, but also warms the tires up which makes excessive tread wear, and less MPG. Excessive pressure makes tires unreliable and gives you bad handling.

    * We're said each of these items could give us something like 5 to 10% less consumption. If half of it is right, every guzzler should be turned into a Civic.

Where are the spark plugs on a 1994 and 1997 Lhs, and how do I change them?

where are the spark plugs located on a 1994 and 1997 Lhs, and whats the best way to change them?Where are the spark plugs on a 1994 and 1997 Lhs, and how do I change them?Forgive me if i insult your intelligence, but i am assuming you don't know much about engines, so my answer may sound overly descriptive.

The spark plugs are in the cylinder head, as they always are. you can follow the plug wires right to them.these are usually black, and 7 or 8 mm thick. The best way to change them is to get a ratchet and the correct size spark plug socket, not a regular socket, the spark plug socket has a piece in it that holds the plug and it just makes the job a whole lot easier. One at a time, take the plug wire off by grabbing the boot(the big part that is around the spark plug), not the wire itself, and pull and twist slightly. The boot should pop off.Using the ratchet, spark plug socket, and possibly an extension, unscrew the plug. Take the new plug and check the gap. The correct gap measurement should be either on a sticker under the hood somewhere or in the owners manual. I would assume its somewhere around .035 to .040, but dont hold me to it.If the gap is already correct, apply a small amount of anti-seize to the threads closest to the top of the plug and insert plug into the hole.turn clockwise. The plug should turn most of the way in by hand. If it doesnt it may be crossthreaded, remove and try again.finish tightening with a torque wrench and the spark plug socket.the torque should be about 15 ft./lbs. Grab the spark plug boot and push it onto the top of the plug. It should click into place. Repeat for remaining plugs.Where are the spark plugs on a 1994 and 1997 Lhs, and how do I change them?i feel youpain. i got a 94 lebaron 3.0l 6cyl. fronts easy. ones in back gotta be below the air cleaner. ive heard you can get at them from underneath the car. even with ramps it doesnt appeal to me. it would be awkward and a pain to get at them. i was wondering if the aircleaner could be taken off to get at the plugs. Where are the spark plugs on a 1994 and 1997 Lhs, and how do I change them? The spark plugs are located on the engine. The high compression pistons would add about 3% per unit of compression increase. So if you increased the compression from 10 to 1 up to 12 to one you could expect about 18 hp increase. That is if you were able to obtain aircraft gas to run it on as it would need about 104 octane for that compression. All at a cost of about $900 not including labor. How much horsepower would be added to a GM 350/290 crate if i put E3 spark plugs and high compression pistons? The E3 and all other fancy spark plugs are a joke to real performance guys and builders. I have dyno and track tested every spark plug known to man and will tell you right now , I NEVER seen a gain of any type with E3's, split fires, bosch +4's, etc over a std AC Delco, Autolite, NGK spark plug. In fact some combos lost power with those 'fancy' plugs

On my 505 HP dynoed combo, I ran AC Delco R43S plugs, on new combo making 600 HP, I run Autolite plugs, because AC dont make a good plug thats 14mm threads, 3/4%26quot; reach, 5/8%26quot; hex, and non projected tip

    Now on the compression

Going from 8.5:1 to 10:1 will gain you about 20-25 HP and about 25 ft lbs torque.

Only prob is when you bump compression up that much,. you will HAVE to change the cam to a slightly larger cam to keep cyl pressure in check so it will run on pump fuel.

If you keep the small cam in it with a now 10:1 compression you wll run into detonation and ping real bad on pump fuel and will be forced to run race fuel. Going to a bigger cam will cure that

How many volts do spark plugs run on?

I know that it gives off 20,000+ volts but i need to know how much voltage i need as an input voltage. How many volts do spark plugs run on?There are actually different voltages going to the coil. The full voltage of the battery (a little over 12 volts) goes to the coil while the ignition key is in the start position, and when the key is released, and goes to the run position the voltage is reduced about 15%. In earlier automobiles this was done by rerouting the current through a ballast or primary resistor. check the diagram at the following web site: http://www.familycar.com/CLASSROOM/ignit ...Good Luck...How many volts do spark plugs run on?your ignition coil produces the spark needed to fire the spark plug. 20K is on the low end, some cars now run 60K - 100K.

Anyway, 12Volts DC is the input.

As the coil is powered up on the primary side and then voltage is taken away the pulse through the coil creates your high voltage spark on the secondary side, down your plug wire and through the spark plugHow many volts do spark plugs run on?As an input voltage to what? The coil cranks on approximately 11 volts and runs on about half the vehicle's voltage after it starts up.How many volts do spark plugs run on?It depends on the year of the vehicle... Vehicles of the teens often run on a magneto, using both a wet cell and dry cell battery so starting voltage can be relatively low.

The ignition system (primarily coil) uses 12 volts and a resistor (sometimes referred to as a ballast resistor) to reduce the input voltage to roughly 6 to 8 volts. This electricity (low voltage) goes into windings around an iron core which creates and inductive current (high voltage)... when the low voltage circuit is completed to ground (through points, or an ignition control module, etc) the inductive current is %26quot;released%26quot; through the core into the ignition coil wire to the spark plug. Voltage out of the coil ranges 20,000 to 100,000 volts and across the spark plug gap.

    So a recap... voltage in - 6 to 8 volts, voltage out - 20k to 100k volts.

    I hope this helps.

How difficult is it to change the spark plugs on a 1993 Lexus GS300?

And where can I get help via manual or diagram to assist me with doing this job?How difficult is it to change the spark plugs on a 1993 Lexus GS300?on the straight six cylinder motor its pretty simple. just remove the air intake box. then remove the throttle body , which should consist of two connectors and two coolant hoses and the throttle plate cable. all very easily accessible. once you have the cable, connectors and coolant hoses dissconnected, there is one nut at the bottom of the throttle body and two long screws at the top. slide the throttle body of the rod at the bottom. then remove the three bolt that hold on the big rubber gasket. now disconnect the three coils (which the little clips will break, but dont worry. after removing the wires and coil IMPORTANT!!! blow out all the debris in the alley due to it might fall in the engine while removing the spark plugs. perform service and dont worry if you mix up the coils it wont matter. just make sure the the wire go in the rght spots. then assemble together. How difficult is it to change the spark plugs on a 1993 Lexus GS300?the front three are easy but the rear three suck to do lots of stuff in the way upper plenum needs to be removed 2-3 hours dep on how good you are on cars you should also do valve cover gaskets with spark plug tube gasket they always leak into the spark plug hole i would say either get a manual or take it to a mechanic

How do you know when its time to change your spark plugs or alternator?

on a 2004 grand am i haven't change them ever since i pruchase the car in 2005.How do you know when its time to change your spark plugs or alternator? With spark plugs, normally your gas mileage starts to decline and when taking off, it is getting sluggish. Or you can always check them, if the gap is big and they are black and corroded. Normally change them every 15,000 miles, but check them first. Your alternator, well since it keeps your battery powered (generator), all the things that are run by your battery (lights, radio, other electrical devices). Lights seem dim or your car will hard to crank over other things such as that. How do you know when its time to change your spark plugs or alternator? When the alternator is about to go out, your AC, radio, gears with go on and off, car will go in and out of gear like it's dying then coming back to life.

How tough is it to change out the wires and spark plugs in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am?

I have a private mechanic who wants to charge me $200 to do this maintenance. Is that a comparable price to what I'd see at a repair shop/dealer? He claims he's working with me and offering a deal.

    Your opinion is appreciated.

Your expertise is invaluable:)How tough is it to change out the wires and spark plugs in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am?Well the parts are probably 60 or 70 dollars with platinum plugs and decent wires so he is charging 130 to 140 dollars for an hour of labor.

That is still a bit high but if you have an engine compartment that require a lot of items removed to get at some of the plugs then he is probably about right. How tough is it to change out the wires and spark plugs in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am?it all depends on how accessible the plugs and wires are. In my 2000 Intrigue, the front 3 plugs are fairly easy to get to but the back three you either have to be a contortionist or have special equipment. It's worth having a mechanic do it.

$200 sounds like a good price if that includes the spark plugs and wires. How tough is it to change out the wires and spark plugs in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am?If you have a 2.4 in it it is very very easy to do plugs. I suggest using bosch platinum +2. they are about 4 dollars a plus and i have them in my grand am gt 2.4. Wires are just a a harness to harness system. Do it yourself just go to autozone.com for the instructions. Tools will cost less than 10 dollars at wal mart for a small ratchet set. good luck.

Alternator on the other hand, That is one of those things you don't replace it unless its broken! So long as your battery is still charging its still working fine. Your alternator should last at least 10 more years.

How do I change the spark plugs in a 2005 Honda Civic VP?

I knew how to change the spark plugs in my other vehicles, but this engine has them set up differently. I'm used to wires being connected from the distributor cap to the plug itself, but on this engine, I still haven't found the wires or distr cap. I know where the spark plugs themselves are, but there is this cylinder thats about 9 in or so long that you have to unscrew and pull out from on top of the plugs. I have a long enough extension to be able to get them out from the bottom of this hole, but it looks to me as if the inside of this tube is copper and its very smooth. Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?

I have a 99 eclipse GS and I have oil inside of were my spark plugs go and i have to replace my valve cover gaskets and what i wanted to know is, if i got oil inside of my spark plugs and inside of the spark plug boot, is that bad and if so how bad and what can i do to fix it?Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Assuming it's a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0L MFI DOHC

it sounds like the spark plug tube seals are leaking.

AZ lists a Felpro VS50455R gasket set ($18) w/the description

    %26quot;With spark plug tube seals; Permadry molded rubber gasket included.%26quot;

    Proper installation of this set

(ie: clean all gasket surfaces so they're clean enough to eat off of)

will prolly fix this common, minor, easy correctable problem.

Spark plugs aren't usually hurt by being submerged in oil but it's a moot point as we change them since they'll be removed during the gasket/seal replacement job.

Plug wire boots may be damaged by the oil. Only inspection will tell. Damage includes swelling, being softer than usual

Clean the spark plug wire boots by spraying carb cleaner on and in them.

It's best to not soak/immerse them in any solvent.

The short period of time the carb cleaner is in contact w/the boots/wires will not hurt a quality wire set.

If there is damage done, it's prolly best to replace them anyway.

DO NOT ALLOW THE OIL TO DRAIN INTO THE CYLINDERS

unless you know there is no dirt/grit in it... and I mean 110% sure.

That makes about as much sense as running w/o an air filter element.

    Using a little patience,

some carb cleaner or laquer thinner,

decent rags or paper towels and

    an air blow gun

one can have the wells clean and spotless in short order.

This plus blowing off the engine, engine compartment and underside of the hood along w/other clean work practices will help keep the dirt/grit from the inside of the engine where it doesn't belong.

It pays to spend the time and

do a repair correctly the first time

regardless if one is a DYIer or a flat rate mechanic.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Find a good mechanic and quick.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Sounds like the valve pan cover gaskets are leaking and the oil is running down the side of the head and into the area of the sparkplugs.Pretty common for this kind of problem.Plus the age of the engine that i'm assuming is over 100kOil inside of were my spark plugs go?Get the engine properly tuned. It is giving excess oil to spark plugs that can't be burnt properly. This affects the mileage also.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Your on the right track. The oil on the plugs and boots are coming from the valve cover gasket. Change it and you will have no more leaks.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?There are separate seals/o-rings used to seal the holes where the spark plugs go through the rocker cover and into the head.

Just replace the valve cover gasket and the four spark plug seals.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?you'll just burn oil for a Little while. see lots of smoke from exhaust.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?After replacing the cover gaskets, if you've slopped oil all over everything (I think this is what you're saying) you can remove it with some engine degreaser and water.

don't leave oil on the plug wires or boots as it will ruin the rubber after a few months and they will need to be replaced.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Better start looking for another car.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?It will ground out your spark plug wires and smell bad when the motor is running.

It's not that bad of a problem. You can wipe the area out with a soft rag doused with some WD-40 after you get done fixing the oil leaks. what doesn't wipe off will boil off when you run the engine. No Problem.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?It sounds like the valve cover gasket, which you are replacing, is leaking and getting oil on the plugs and wires. The wires should be replaced and the plugs removed and the oil cleaned off. That should solve the problem.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?clean the spark plug boots and spark plugs off and wipe the oil off of everything. Remove your spark plugs to wipe them off. This will allow the oil in the spark plug hole to drain into the motor. (this wont hurt the motor as long as the oil isnt lots and lots of oil)

Then replace the valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals! If you dont have any missfires now you are probably ok!Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?I assume this is a DOHC motor which means that the spark plugs are in the middle of the valve cover. This is a VERY common problem with these cars. The only real damage it causes is it can destroy the spark plug wires and cause a misfire which is bad for the engine. I would change this as soon as you can. Pull the plug when you change the gasket to let the oil drain into the cylinder and if your going to change the plugs at the same time I would recommend putting the old plug back in the cylinders that had the oil filled in them and run the car for a couple of minutes until the oil burns out of the cylinder then put the new plug in so you don't oil foul your new plugs. You should probably replace the wires if they feel weak or have been exposed to the oil for a long period of time. Make sure you replace the tube seals some valve cover gaskets don't come with them this is what is leaking the oil into those holes.Oil inside of were my spark plugs go?Changing the valve cover will prevent future oil from getting in spark plug holes, but the oil thats already in there is conductive to the spark coming from your wires and could cause a skip or miss later. While your changing the valve cover, pull the plugs and let the oil down in there drain into the hole. Clean the plugs and plug wire boots good with brake cleaner, they'll dry on there own as the cleaner evaporates.
